News For This Week

Hello All,
For those that were not able to attend our class mtg. Tuesday night - here are a couple of important things to know.

************************
Our classroom looks fabulous  - go take a peek.  THANK YOU to Heather for the magical closet transformation and to Jolene for responding and being pro-active with getting the room spiffed up.
Thanks to Alejandro for the hard work and to Jolene for the art work.  Kris brought beautiful flowers/plants.
Anyone I'm missing?

*************************
Merel is our co-coordinator for Malakoff Diggins - April 22-24th (two night stay)

Please email her if you would like to help or chaperone.   We need costumes/meal planning etc.  Let Merel know your talents......

*************************
The eighth grade are now providing buddy/mentor ship of our class.  Including helping with a code of conduct, transition support and lunch time get togethers.

*************************
Time to gear up for the auction.  We have an opportunity to have the school we have been hoping for - let's help fund it too.

It's our year to do Wine!

If you didn't get a wine tag from me yet - let me know.

On the tags,  there are 3 things for each family to fill out:
NAME : family's name (NOT name of wine /spirit)
VALUE : retail value
WHY THIS BOTTLE? : Any personal information on why this bottle is meaningful,  or just a great bottle!
Bottles that are extra special will be auctioned off individually, but otherwise most of them will be part of a wine-toss game to raise money.  These wine donations are always a great money-maker for Greenwood!

FYI, some differences from prior years:

(1) In years past, some classes decided on a theme for their bottles (i.e, all big reds, or all champagnes, etc.), but this year, it doesn't make as much sense, due to the fact that most of the wine/spirits will be part of the wine toss game, and grouped according to their value (not by class or theme.)

(2) We're encouraging families to donate bottle valued at $20 or greater...please no "2-buck chuck"!  (If $20 is too much for you - why not join up with another family.)

(3) Each family is encouraged to donate a bottle of wine or spirit that's meaningful to them in some way (i.e, it was the bottle of wine you served at your wedding, or drank on your first date with your spouse, or it's just a really good bottle with a particular meal.)  Each family is given the opportunity to write down this special reason in the "Why this bottle?" section of their bottle tag.

Please bring your wine to the office by March 12  - that's this Tuesday.  Go shopping this weekend!!

(Remember wines have to be cataloged which takes time *please* help us by submitting your donation on time.

Best,
Joy
